Sightseeing in Sakai City

A city with glorious views of the Sea of Japan and retro streetscapes

Sakai City boasts beautiful nature, including Tojinbo, a series of precipitous cliffs facing the Sea of Japan that is ranked as one of the world’s three most scenic spots, and the Takeda area that is blessed with bountiful forests and rivers. It is also a historical town, featuring the retro streetscape of Mikuni Minato which flourished with the Kitamaebune cargo ship trade and Maruoka Castle, whose restoration was said to be almost miraculous.
