The traditional handicraft Echizen Bamboo Dolls have their origin in dolls that were made with kabuki motifs and the like out of leftover pieces of bamboo.
From the mid 1950’s they have received a number of prestigious premier awards, and are now known nationwide, attracting many people as a new local specialty of Fukui prefecture.

Echizen Takeningyo no Sato(Echizen Bamboo Doll Village) is a facility that was designed as a place for everybody to enjoy viewing bamboo dolls that were made to worship the good fortune and happiness that come with the lucky bamboo.
